Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy, WordPress … which one is the best option for your website?

As a designer and former coder, I say WordPress in the best option to go with for your small business or coaching website.

My number top reasons for using WordPress for small businesses websites are the 1) flexibility and 2) ease of use that you get with WP.

When I first started designing websites, I learned raw HTML. You could say I was an early adopter of the Girls Who Code school of thought.

Over the years, as I began to see what worked best for my clients–who were not coders–I needed a better solution for the small businesses, musicians, and entrepreneurs who needed a website that was easy for them to maintain on their own.

In zoomed WordPress! It was the best option and the easiest option for my small business websites to use and you should look at using it for your own business coaching website or small business website.

Here are a few reasons why:

WordPress isn’t another drag and drop editor that will have you banging your head again the wall or metaphorically throwing your computer out a window.

It’s an all-in-one solution for small business websites that works because of it’s flexibility and plugin options to create just any about website for a small business.

WordPress features some of the most dynamic and pre-built themes and plugins for small business websites.

Themes

Diverse theme options. One of the things that WordPress has cornered the market in is the ability to get companies and developers to create themes for the platform.WordPress has their default theme that comes pre-installed, but there are many themes the come ready to go and are niche and industry specific.

Plugins

These are the butter to the WP recipe. WordPress Plugins are really what makes gives the platform its juice. There is a plugin for anything you can imagine.

The great thing about Plugins with WordPress is that many of them come with very good documentation and help sections. For example, Yoast SEO. Even if you don’t know anything about search engine optimization, the plugin guides you through the process perfectly and does more than enough to help setup your small business website for being found in search engines.

What I Recommend: Do a search for your industry name, plus the phrase, “WordPress themes.” (i.e. business coach WordPress themes, church WordPress themes, accountant WordPress, HVAC WordPress themes, landscaper WordPress theme, etc). See what your WordPress for small business website could look like even if you used a theme as is.
