1. Change Your Headshot

Your headshot is your introduction on LinkedIn. Having a good one is essential to being successful on LinkedIn.

If you’re choosing between more than one headshot, use a photo comparison website for people can vote between two photos that you give them the choice of your professional headshot. This will help you know what the public thinks about your LinkedIn profile photo and not just which one you think will work best.

3. Create a Headline that has Impact

Think about who you’re looking to attract to your profile. Would they be impressed by the first three sentences in your LinkedIn profile? If you’re not sure, then you’ll want to create a headline that has immediate impact for your target audience. Here is a simple formula you can use:

Helping [name your target audience and or/industry] do/make/increase [xyz] through [say what you do] so that they can [what is the end result].

4. Expand Your Network

Since LinkedIn is all about networking, the best opportunity for you to be connected to who you want to work with is going to be by increasing the size of your network.

Before you connect with someone, see if they have a lot of interaction within the LinkedIn network. Do they come in a lot of other posts? Do they post a lot of articles themselves? Have they given at least 5 recommendations?
